I had a bit of a groan coming from my front end as well. So all I did was lift the front end of the car, unlock the steering wheel. crawled underthe car and steered the wheels at the tire, untill I could locate the groan. It was coming from the iner tie rod, or the inside of the thrust rod, Im not sure exactly, so all I did was soak it with WD-40
(where all the parts come together outside the steering box) and worked the wheels back and forth, and it is gone.
