I have an E.A.T but weigh out what your future mods and the driving you're planning to do - then check out the power bands to "dial in" what best fits. Don't get sucked in by the lowest priced, check out warranty & support if there's an issue. And DON'T buy one off Ebay.

well said c1apton, how is your E.A.T.? i was looking at this one 7 serioes, the owner still hadnt installed it, was offering it w/the car, but he said it was one of the best

there are a lot of good companies, for instance, DINAN chips give you higher end torque/hp, like maybe past 4500, while jim conforti is good throughout the RPM spectrum(from what ive heard)

true true true. eBay chips are often knock offs, and totally 100% unreliable.

I went w/ the E.A.T. because the weight of my car + the power band I wanted - it's a progressive but really strong, smooth curve and pulls well beyond 6k. There's no flat spots or abrupt transitions. It's smooth at low speeds but it's there when you stick your foot into the radiator. And there is no idle issues.

TMS sells the JC chip. I believe they'll reprogram it for different mods you have to gain the most power, too.

Powerchip Group states that for a 1992 525i, using 93 octane, you'll get 207hp and 202lbft from the engine. For a price of $390. I contacted them a while back for my car. The rep said he was willing to give a 10% discount to those on a forum if you tell them about the forum.

Here's the link: Powerchip Group

Well, when I spoke with Powerchips Group, they said that for the life of the car, you can have it reprogramed for free each time you get an upgrade(mod) for your car.

$490 for a powerchip for my 96 328is!? eeeek! I'd hate to see the price on getting it reprogrammed each time. Big strain on the 'ol wallet if you ask me. In my opinion, Dinan or BavAuto are the way to go.
