shadowlining

So i decided i was bored tonight and the e34 would look way better with blacked out chrome trim. so i went and bought some sandpaper, painters tape and a roll of paper and went to town. here are some before and during pics, i'll have the finished ones up tomorrow when i take off the masking

here is a site i came across that explained the process in more detail in case any of you wanted to give it a shot. chrome just looks too tacky on a bimmer in my opinion. same goes for rims

Nice decal in the rear window. :thumbup

Do you have any close-ups of the "after"?

devinwwu 03-13-2006 04:00 AM

haha ^^^ask and ye shall receive, haha i was still up and decided to take the tape off tonight cause i couldn't stand the anticipation

here are some after pics, i still have to put the mirrors back on but other than that its done and it looks way better! i'm actually going to do the chrome pieces around the headlights as well as the front grill piece blacked out too so there will be no chrome on the car. interior chrome will be blacked out tomorrow or the next day.

nightdevils 03-13-2006 09:42 AM

devin, i think you should pain the door's plastic pieces too, it will give it a sorta rejuvinated look :eyebrows

devinwwu 03-13-2006 06:57 PM

Looks Good Devin. Any interest in your car?

Storamin 03-14-2006 12:57 PM

I thought you were thinking of selling the car?

The shadowtrim looks good!

devinwwu 03-14-2006 04:10 PM

no calls... we'll see if i actually end up selling it

Spieluhr 03-14-2006 05:57 PM

looks a lot better devin! nice work. Is that your clutch I see laying there on the ground? lol

devinwwu 03-14-2006 09:59 PM

haha i was waiting to see how long it took before someone pointed that out. ya its on the floor in the pic cause my clutch started acting up but its back in now and just puttin the tranny back in tonight or tomorrow. put in a brand new pilot bearing, seal, checked the clutch wear on it and it is barely noticeable that i've had it in since june which is kinda cool. there is a new driveshaft support bearing going in tomorrow and i ordered a power bleeder to bleed all the brakes and clutch system as well.
car hasn't been out of the garage for 3 weeks now i think i'm going crazy!

Addicted? 03-14-2006 10:28 PM
