Have him look at diff seals, trans seals and basically mention that the car has been doing alot of sitting. If it's a BMW dealer have him run your vin# to see if there are any open campaigns (recalls & updates that weren't performed) Check your maintenance manual for any & all previous maintenance and get updated on fluids changes (brake flush, coolant flush, etc)

air cooled engines have more thermal expansion than a liquid cooled, so when the enigine is opened up the piston rings expand properly with the cylinders, and help to remove the grooves left by machining.
As for a liquid cooled engine, there have been debates about this very topic, and it seems that the manufacturer's of automobile engines are more concerned with the consumer racking up huge waranty bills, so to protect themselves, they say to keep the revs down for a determoned time.
