E34 530i purchase

I'm thinking of buying a 1995 530i with 93,000. The guy is selling it for $4,500. The engine and tranny seem fine but there are other obvious problems. Like, the driver window wont go up, tires are bald, seats are cracked a little, headlights have moisture inside, and other smaller problems. Just wondering what you guys think.

Seems pretty decent... doesn't look like any major problems. All used cars have little niggles. Well, ALL cars have little niggles.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal at all. E34s are pretty easy to fix & maintain. You might check to see if he has the records on the car. When the 530 & 540s came out they had the nickasil problem w/engines. (US fuels have sulfur addititives that were eating cylinder walls) BMW had a recall and supposedly fix the problem under warranty. They actually extended the engine warranty to 100,000 miles for these engines. If he doesn't have the records take the VIN # to any BMW dealer and have them run a history on it and make sure it's clear.

if you looked at it, i dont know if you did, make sure the tires are bald just b/c they are old, not an alignment problem, or a control arm problem

CarFax isn't going to tell you of major factory adjustments, take that VIN to a dealer and have them run the history - you DO NOT want the headache of motor replacement
