91 525i
i have a 1991 525i, i do all the maintenance myself and even some of the more complicated stuff. i have run into a problem that so far i have yet to find a way to fix. the car runs good till i get to about 2500 rpm then it spits, sputters and acts like it is running on 4 cylinders. does anyone have any ideals? |

Have you checked all your vacuum lines and hoses? ICV?

I didn't see anything, but i could take a lot closer look. Would it need to be a major leak? |

Even a very thin crack or tear could cause idle issues.

I checked and replaced a ICV hose and took off and closely inspected the other vac hoses. No change. I have also changed spark plugs, coils, injectors, o2 sensor and fuel filter. I did a fuel pressure test and at idle i had 41psi. I also swapped out the check control and DME without any changes. Oh i failed to mention that the car runs great till it's been at operating temp for about 20 mins then it starts acting like it does. Last edited by jmill90; 08-13-2012 at 09:17 PM.. |
