Modding the 540

Hey guys,

I am not too familiar as far as mods go for 5 series (E39's). But am wanting to buy something for my mom's car. Style or performance, nothing major... maybe $400 tops, any ideas?

clearcorners, m5 grill, euro tails, m5 rims????-too expensive

Rooz 08-06-2005 10:24 AM

do you have to take the all headlights out and replace the ornage cover as far as clearcorners go?

devinwwu 08-06-2005 11:06 AM

go to beastpower.net, they specialize in the e39 and you can get some sick ideas from 5-driver.com (their forum)

for the headlights, you take off the entire unit, and clip on the front cover(the lens with the clear corner instead of the amber. The process takes 30 mins tops and cost about 100 for the clearcorners. Looks hell of a lot better. What color is the car?

Rooz 08-06-2005 12:28 PM

Silver

BMC or K&N Flat panel filter. Not really alot you can do to those motors without spending a lot of cash. Free up the exhaust a bit too.

Rooz 08-06-2005 03:14 PM

how much are the K&n's for those?

Forget the cosmetic stuff, they dont help you go faster 0-60. I suggest getting is chipped somewhere. IE better shift points, remove speed gov other things like that.

I've no idea in US dollars. I can get a BMC for $152NZD incl tax.

Well, it's for my mom's car, so... yeah :stick

Beastpower is awesome. The owner has a SICK e39 M5.

Seeing as how it is your mom and I doubt she really cares for speed, i'd defintely stick to cosmetics.

What year is it?

Celis Tail Lights?
Tint?

Rooz 08-08-2005 05:57 PM

she's against tint even thought I think like a 40% tint would look very elegant on her car, it's a 97, am thinking of an M5 front bumper for now...

M5 front bumper (with the m5 style trim) would look awesome. :rock

I thought you said your price range was $400?

How about celis lights and/or front HID/Angel eyes. Upgrade her visual style as well as practicality.
