1994 E34 Tranny question
I've been contemplating a transmission swap from the 5 speed manual to the 6 speed manual, hopefully from a similar year of 540i. Has this been done, and if it has, how many changes are there to the undercarriage are there?
Thanks in advance;
GDJ

Haven't done it or seen it done, however you'll most likely need the driveshaft and crossmembers from the other tranny. A couple mm of difference can be a really bad day.

Yeah, I suspected the drive-shaft to be different due to the longer length of the 6 speed.
Next question: Bell housings are the same for the 530i and 540i engines?
(Apologising for the inane questions. I searched the web for 2 nights and came up with no answers.)

Haven't had any of them apart side by side. I would expect them to be pretty close, however close and properly fitting are always two very different things. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. You may just need to head to a junkyard and see first hand what's up (that usually works for me).
