a few probs with the 528e
hey guys...
a few questions and looking for a few answers... today experienced my FIRST problem with my 88 528e. while on the interstate, my bimmer lost all accelleration. turned the car off, tried to restart, however did not turn over. 2 hrs later, while waiting for AAA to come and get me, tried turning it on, and it turned over. after getting towed by PENNDOT to the closest exit, i was able to drive home without a problem. any thoughts??? my father is even at a lack of words. :dunno i have a full coolant tank, temp gauge was fine, and had more than enough gas. ALSO, my dash computer has gone kaput. The lighting is barely there in the daytime, and you cannot see it at all at night. thanks!!!!!!!!! |
the back light to the OBC is burnt out. as for the rest. no idea sorry
|
Looks very electrical to me. Ignition system maybe needs a look
|
Might be the fuel pump going bad -- which is currently my best guess.
As for the OBC, it's just a lightbar back there, and it's easy to replace - just sticks into a slot once you get back there. |
Make sure you have power and ground at the intake fuel pump. Also, make sure that it's running. If it's running then you need to check fuel pressure and see if your problem really is in the fuel system.
Edit: Could also be caused by your battery, check for corrision and do a load test. |
thanks for the input guys...
however, took it to the shop, the guys ran the car for awhile hoping that it would do the same thing to them... however it didnt. so, they proceeded to tell me that there was nothing wrong with the car. drove it home the same day, and now... tried to go out tonight... wouldn't turn over. haha. she's nice to the mechanics, but is having spasms with me. =( |

quick update...
car turned over today... does anyone think that POSSIBLY rain is getting somehow into the car? after both times it did not want to turn over, it has rained. blah. sick of not knowing if she is going to turn over or not. |
A good squirt around all electrical parts/connections with WD40 (do you have that in the states???) should stop any damp effecting them.
|
alright... altogether now...
the bimmer is OFFICALLY not turning over. it will be in the shop indefinitely. bummer. replacement... 95 toyota camry. blah. |
what do you mean...turning over. I only speak good american, sorry.
|
not turning over.....engine is not starting
|
well, your first mistake was living in Pennsylvania, because western pennsylvania roads are shit (lived in greensburg for a while)
your second mistake was having the camry.... sell it and buy another bimmer... i would put my money on the fuel system..... |
