Paint chip repair?
Does anyone have any experience with repairing small paint chips, road rash, and suggestions on what products or process to use? I have a few on the front of my baby and I would like to brighten her smile. Thanks in advance.

the problem with paint chips tend to be too deep to feather out.always a good depth of base applied to bmw`s.are they present around the front panel area? easier to disguise but must be sorted quick or corrosion sets in early...

Your Ride: 2001 BMW 540i M Sport
Most, if not all, are on the leading portion of the hood. As far as I can tell, they have only gone through the silver metallic and not the primer to bare metal. Most people would probably not even notice them except on close inspection. I was wondering if the DRCOLORCHIP method or a paint pen would be most effective. Do you, or anyone you know, have any experience in this area? I'm not very mechanically inclined, but I do have plenty of patience and when I'm off hitch, I have plenty of time. Thanks for your reply.

Your hood is our bonnet over here--hehe----if the chips are not too noticable to the naked eye,i would try the paint pen method but making sure the paint code tallies with the chassis number.another problem occurs when laquer tends to alter the depth of colour,so be extra careful when applying the pen as it will stick out like a sore thumb(as we say over here).best of luck!!

When I was a wee lad growing up, I wondered where me Mum got those cute phrases from. It's delightful hearing from someone close to God's country, Scotland. I'll keep all those helpful suggestions in mind, especially as I'm smearing and making a mess of the whole operation. Hopefully not!
