BMW 530d E39 ENGINE CUT OUT PART 2
 

I posted a thread about my 530d which cut out on the motorway at 70 mph. The engine has compression and has fuel up to the injectors. the engine will turn over but not start.

Any ideas

Are the glow plugs working right?

I dont think its the glow plugs as it cut out whilst driving?

Maybe there is something wrong with the engine shutdown system, since diesels must be stopped by choke (air cut off) or fuel cut off.

Hi, I had a problem with the engine cutting out too. Took it to BMW they could not find it . The AA saw it and each time it would sort of start, I Eventually found that in the clear fuel line, there were bubbles in the pipe going to the high pressure pump which led to the lift pump in the tank and the inline pump need to be changed as they were intermittant. Ever since they were changed No problem at all.Car works perfectly now.
