Sealed Transmission
Okay so here's the deal. My dad owns a 2004 525i with a sealed transmission. BMW doesn't recommend breaking the seal and doing a bg transmission flush, which will void the warranty, but my dad wants to keep the car for a long time. Can you get a long life out of the transmission without doing a transmission flush?

Trans flush
BMW Freak,
I have an 05 545i that I bought with 80k on it and wondered the same thing. So i called around and found an honest shop here in Dallas and he said nothing last forever hence the sealed forever transmission. So to protect my investment it cost me a little more. About 800.00 more but that is cheaper than a transmission down the line. You may not have to pay as much, here is where you may get lucky. It has 2 types of pans metal or plastic that cannot be replaced after it has been dropped. Both have the filter built in. If its plastic it will cost 300-400 hundred. That's why mine was 800.00 I have a plastic pan. With all that said I totaly feel it was worth it. Bobby |

AutoScope and they have 3 locations. I use Park Cities the one by love field since its close to my work and they will drop me off and pick me up when its done for no extra fee.
Ask for Carson and he will answer any questions you have and they are very patient. |
Lifetime actually means lifetime. Of course if the lifetime of your trans ends up being 150,000 miles......
The only reason you should ever have to crack one of these is in the event of a leak or failure. Aftermarket shops LOVE to sell stuff you may or may not really need. So the question is, is there a concern with your transmission as it sits? Sometimes you end up taking something that isn't broken in the first place and fixing it until it is. |
