E12, E28, E34, E39, E60General discussion and technical help for all year 5 series cars.
I have a mechanic who works on my car on his spare time. He used to be a bmw mechanic so he knows the car very well.
He recommends that I have him replace the:
Alternator Belt
Alternator Belt Tensioner
AC Belt
Idler Pulley
and the Oil Filter Gasket
I was wondering if anyone knew about how much that would cost.
My car has around 90K miles and I just replaced, the water pump + the vent valve and valve cover gasket with the 15 grommets and some fan.
If you buy the parts, they will cost you about $50.00 @ autohausz: http://www.autohausaz.com/search/gro...Drive%20System. Then whatever he charges you for labor. The going rate @ the BMW dealer is about $125.00 a hour. So if he charges 70.00, 80.00, or 90, that's up to him! The job should take about 1.5 hours!
