Oil pan gasket replacement on 97 540iA
wanna replace my Oil pan gasket on this weekend, I got the metal oil pan gasket.
-Should I use any RTV gasket makers or any other sealant along with the new gasket to provide better seal? -Can I use the Rhino ramps for this job? -Should I use blue (medium) loctite on the 25 oil pan bolts? -Which loctite on the Oil Pump Bolts and on the Nut, Red or Blue (medium)? thx |
I hope your only doing the smaller lower oil pan where the drain plug is located.
If you want to use rtv it wont hurt anything, just apply a thin coat along the whole gasket. Yes you can use ramps Loctite really isnt needed but blue would work just fine. Again blue would work, your engine isnt the one that has the oil pump bolts that back out. That was the e34 and e32 v8's. |
^^^E39 didn't have that problem with the oil bolts backing out. Rhino ramps work fine if you can get them to stay still as you drive up them and not push them around.
