Gain of 22 HP and 25 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels on a 540
My first dyno with dinan stage 4 SF, Dinan MAF, Dinan CAI, Dinan TB and Remus exhaust. My numbers in July 2006 were 255 HP and 276 lb-ft to the rear wheels.
With the install of the pre-vanos intake manifold. My new numbers are 276 HP and 297 lb-ft. Holy shit. I can't believe the increase. I notice when I drive if I stomp on the throttle, but everyday drivability has not been effected. It will be interesting what will happen to my numbers if I buy the dinan stage 5 software. Paul |

They gave me a cd with the old and new dyno charts but I don't have the correct software to open it and put it on the net. They are compressed files, but not from any document that I am familiar with. When I search online I am brought to a page to buy software to compress files not necessarily read them. Kind of odd.

I think the first time I dynoed the car in July 2006, my car must have been running crappy. I believe that the manifold gave me some gains, but not 20+.

Oh yeah, this particular dyno you have a 18% loss from the flywheel to the wheels.
At the flywheel, I should have approx 335 HP and 370 lb-ft of torque. I am officially in the e46 M3 category now. |

Had my 540i A dyno'd using a machine that lets the engine run down and then converts the mech drag into the lost hp - does that sound right?
With the high flow cats acting more like a straight pipe and no resonators its making 312 Hp on Petrol and and 291 on LPG So I'm more than happy with that - guy lives near me did it as a quick job in between others as I've been to him for work in the past with various fords and also me vette. |
312 HP is quite respectable. Do you feel more power with your exhaust set up now?

Yeah I'd say its definately better - I wouldn't say theres more snap your neck acceleration etc but it just feels so much more responsive. Especially as due to the cost of petrol over here I run mine on LPG which means a reduction in power and sometimes a poor response - but a lot of that has gone and its just a much better machine to drive.
I have put it against my G-tech pro meter which reckons the quarter time has droped by around 4 tenths which from what I can see is in keeping with a 10% or so gain in power and a reduction in weight by about 28 KGS. I also seem to be getting a better mpg now too :) |
A gain of 10% is phenomenal. Have you seen a decrease in torque with the decrease in back pressure when you opened the exhaust.
Weight savings is huge to increase power to weight ratio. Our front seats weigh 50 kilos or 110 lbs each. Get rid of them with some lightweight race seats and you will notice even more of a difference. |
there has been a slight increase in torque too - around 5% the only thing that seems to have changed really torque wise is that its now a little further down the rev range.
