E12, E28, E34, E39, E60General discussion and technical help for all year 5 series cars.
Sorry to hear about your accident, like others have said, the most important thing is you're OK. Hope you're back on the road in another Bimmer very soon.
Looks like it took the rollover pretty well, Bimmers are pretty tough cars. Definitely check the engine and suspension before taking care of the cosmetics and body damage. Have someone inspect the unibody and subframes for compromise. Like Chris said, that's gonna end up being a salvage title
Glad to know you are not hurt. The damage to the car is a shame, but that is what the car is there for: to keep you alive in these situations, even if it means the demise of the car itself.

Yeah the car saved my life. If there is anything wrong with the unibody or subframe or if there is something amis with the engine from its inverted adventure then I'm sure the cost will be too much to get it drivable and get theroof fixed enough to get a new windshield in and get new mirrors. So crossing my fingers that everything is just dandy. I'm fine with it getting a salvage title, I was planning on keeping it until I didn't have room and then giving it to someone in the family. If anyone does happen to see a 5er for sale that might be an option if getting this one fixed is too much and taking the engine and other usable parts and putting them in another less mechanically fortunate E34.
yeah, I'd do that... fixing this one will be a hell of a hassle and after that... I don't really want to talk bad about american craftmanship but I've seen some cars after repair when I was living in MI and they use way to much body filler or putty or what you call it... it depends on where you have it repaired but if you get to the worng shop your car is gonna be worse than before and also will prolly not last a lot longer...

wow the car started after that? I am not good at determining when a car is considered totalled, but are you doing this without insurance, because I think insurance would def not fix that. Good luck with everything though!

Yeah insurance will not be involved at all. I only had liability so the car is out of pocket anyway, but it does cover the fence I hit....but reporting it and having them pay will inform them of the wreck so we are just going to get a letter signed and noterized saying that we payed the guy his money for the fence and get the ticket thrown out when I have to go for it. Thats the plan at least, cause if insurance finds out my insurance is going to rape me and I wont be having any car.

Found out today that it can be fixed....new roof, new windshield, new sideview mirrors. $1600. They better get alpine white replacement parts cause I'm ok with the bad dints and bad paint but i really dont want to be one of those guys that it's obvious has 20 cars in 1.

No kidding, I don't really have the cash to fix it but we are going to make it happen. I wish it hadn't happened, but since it did I got out of it pretty well.

Couple of new things to get opinions on. 1. Pay less than 100 to get the new peices(roof, mirrors, and pass. door now) painted with a white they have at the shop. 2. Leave the parts black. 3. Try to get a better paint job in a few months....by better I mean maaco or peaches...not great just better.
And if I get it completely repainted at on of the places above, should I get an alpine white or a calypso red.....if they will even order the colors.
