Ac intermittent
My AC dies for no apparent reason-the whole panel-rear defrost, fresh vs recycled-all buttons die-BMW mech says I need new control head $600 plus labor-any suggestions? Can I straight wire it? Man it's hot!!!!!!
I've never experienced having the whole thing die. Geez!
However, I'm going to venture a guess that it wouldn't be a smart idea to hard wire it. I mean, the control head was there for a reason, with hard wiring, you might even cause an electrical fire.

You can hard wire it, but it'll be either on full blast or off My friend did it in his Volvo. There's really no harm as long as the hardwired switch is relayed and fused. However, people only do this as a last ditch effort, when they've decided not to spend anymore money and run an old car till it finally dies.
