Windscreen Wiper Problem

Hi

One day while it was raining quite heavily the windscreen wipers just stopped in the parked position.

Since then they have not worked.

- The rear wiper works
- all of the washers work
- from what i can tell the wipers don't try to move - ie don't seem to be stuck.

I have checked the fuse which is fine.

My local garage have had a look at it, they couldn't find the fault, they said the motor is fine and basically i would be better getting a auto electrician to look at it.

I believe if it is a relay or something similar i can replace it my-self.

So i am looking for your ideas of what might be wrong!

The wiper motor has a few contact plates which control the speed of wipers. If they are bented or damaged the wipers will hold up in position.

The fuse and the electric motor will be OK, but ...... no muvement.

Find a shop that has the diagnostic tools that can test modules. (autologic, gt1, carsoft) If your local to NJ I could help you out. This will also allow them to find out if its 1. the switch 2. the module 3. the motor

check this out for a local mechanic
