Belts
 

I need drive belts for my 01 525i auto. Car Quest has Gates for about $33 for both. Any reason not to get these instead of OEM? Also is there a write-up on installing drive belts?

aftermarket belts are usually as good as OEM (that have to meet min specs, etc) Factory BMW belts are really good quality. As far as replacing them they are simple, just apply a little pressure againt the tensioner pulley(s) and the belts almost fall off... they take minutes. You'll spend more time preparing for the "ritual"

Hey Clapton, thanks. I bought the Gates and, as you said, I took longer to prepare than to install.

I change my bmw belts and I prefer those factory made,its good in quality and installing it was not cumbersome.
