Windshield Wiper Problem - United Bimmer Community

I have had this problem for awhile now and can't fiqure it out. My wipers stop in the middle of the windshield when I turn them on. This occurs at normal speed an also at intermitent speed. At high speed they don't stall . It even does this when I want clean the windshield manually by pulling the wiper control down.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem and how can I fix it?

could be your wiper motor getting worn out, there is a nylon gear inside thaty will wear out over a long period of time, also the park switch inside your wiper motor could be getting worn, only way to check is to try another wiper motor or have it tested professionally.
Might also be worth trying a different relay before replacing the wiper motor.

Here's a question for you - did someone recently replace wipers? Or was the windshield replaced? As mentioned the the park switch might be worn. (You might try cleaning the motor with a good electrical contact cleaner - might be a little corrosion)

same thing happened to me, turned out to be a loose cable/relay in the fuse box in the back seat, i did every thing form cleaning the wiper engine to cleaning the actual control module in the steering column. This is a very common problem in e34 dont be surprised if u get intermitent low lights and problems with the auto locking

Where exactly would this cable be in the fuse box? What would it look like? I've looked around in there but nothing stood out. I'll check again.

I just took a look in the fuse box under the rear seat behind the driver and this is what I found. hanks
What is the name of this module and could it be the cause of my proble? (I'm at work so I don't have my Bentley handy).

k bimmerdad ill try to explain the best possible way:

the whole black infrastructure that holds the fuses and the relays can be unscrewed, do that, after u do that u will see that all the fuses and relays have cables to them, just chek all of them and push them in tight. Its a good idea if u have some one to help u: for example make some one put the wipers in half speed (where they didint work before) and u move around the cables till the wipers work, that way u will be able to locate the problem zone.

I am having the same problem.

The wipers workd correctly, but stop at the vertical position. I can stop the wipers in the correct position by turning the key off when the wipers hit the bottom of their cycle or pushing the wipers down manually when the wiper control is off.

I will be trying the fuse/relay box suggestion.

Any help would be greatly appreachiated.

I was having the same problem, and then one day they just went back to normal. However, with in the past week, my dashboard will not light up and the windshield wipers will not work. At some point during driving it the dashboard will come on and then everything works fine, but this starting from yesterday to today they just haven't come on at all. Any suggestions?

Last time I had that problem it was the body control module crapping out. When it did finally die the wipers only worked on full (safety default) and would stop whenever and wherever you turned them off of high. Is the car doing anything else such as intermittent failure of the central locking or the one touch operation on the windows/sunroof not operating correctly?

the wipers do not work on full or anything. The sunroof will not open at all and non of the windows will work when I use the buttons on the center console. The lock has stuck once here and there will I will have to use the key in the door to unlock
