Break lt circuit

My '91 525i will flash Break LT Circuit some times, either while driving or upon start up, then its says see owners manuel. The previous owner never got the manuel from the original owner, any help as to what this is refering to? I had the breaks checks and everything was fine. Thanks for the help.

Check all 3 brake lights and then the brake switch mounted to the brake pedal if all the brake lights work or none of the bulbs come on.
