Cool Series ?

I just purchased a 89 525i. and I need to know if there are diffrent series of the model. Its my first , from VW to Cadi's )
The reason I need to know this is because I want ot re-set my service engine indicator lamp (without using the tool) so I want to make sure that I jump the right pins on the computer reset.

I am a new member of this group and I look foward to sharing my technical knowledge with everyone

Thanks
Jim

Use this guide:

I'm 99% sure it's the same for most.

you also might check out www.bmwe34.net - alot of good basics to get you started. NOTE: 1 weak point you might want to address is the timing belt & waterpump - 2 weak spots the early e34s had.
