Detailing and Cleaning
Sponsored by: Autogeek.net Discuss waxing, cleaning, detailing and everything in between here to keep your bimmer looking its very best.
Wanna know what you folks use in between washings. This morning I walked over to my car to find smudges, dirt, and fingerprints all over it The culprit even wrote his initials on the car with his grimy greasy hands, my 8yr old nephew. The little shit gets no discipline from his parents, and because of that, anyhting I tell him goes out the window, doesn't even register. The only thing I had around was Windex, so I cleaned it up with that, and of course it takes off the wax. Any suggestions on what I should keep handy in the trunk?

I keep a few bottles of Dasani in my trunk. I don't think that would work well with something like greese, but it works well enough for most occassions.

Run over the car with the duster first to remove any sand or potentially abrasive debris. Then just use a damp towel with warm water followed by a dry towel.
Using that method, you will never harm your paint. The dusters are awesome too if you live in an area that collects a lot of pollen or dust. Good luck.
^^ Dust it off first and i heard quick detailer, i think from mothers or another company works nicely. Spray it on and wipe it off, leaves a great shine and the paint feeling like you just waxed it.

Here's a cheaper solution... i usually use ammonia with water or rubbing alcohol in cleaning dirty spots. Foam cleaners are easier to use and seem to have a higher ammonia content without being smelly. They leave window glass an excellent shine. My bmw accessories and the car always looks new and clean with this.
Pick up a microfiber car duster from a local auto store and along with it get Meguiar's Quick detailer (pic/link) and a few microfiber towels... unless there's visible dirt from the road on the car, wiping the car down after driving with the QD, after dusting, won't scratch the paint and should clean up pretty much anything...
