Detailing and Cleaning
Sponsored by: Autogeek.net Discuss waxing, cleaning, detailing and everything in between here to keep your bimmer looking its very best.
I usually use the engine degreaser GUNK or whatever one foams up and doesnt harm electrics or plastics . After I let that sit for a moment I pressure wash off the dirt, grime or dust off. Then after that I use towels to dry it off to make shure water doesnt get on anything that it doesnt need to and dry up. This process is only used if the engine bay is really dirty. But when i touch up I use dove soap, with a moderatley wet towel.
I just got done cleaning it the other day, as you can see from my new avatar I use a bucket of water with Mr. Clean. Used a sponge and wiped down everything, then went back and wiped again with a damp rag. Last step was wiping it all down with Armour All wipes. Looks great again. I do this every 3-4mos or so, and I also wipe stuff down everytime I'm under there checking fluids. Used to use GUNK too, back in the old days, but I don't trust hosing down engines in newer cars nowadays.
I like Dudeskys' method except the armorall wipes. I do the same but use Mothers Back to Black - it lasts longer and doesn't attract dust. Also repels moisture better.
To touch up my moldings and the plastic engine covers ect when I went to shows, I used to use the eagle tire wetter. That stuff works pretty good give a great shine on plastics
