Cleaning the Headliner?!?!?

My car was smoked in before I owned it and I have dove grey interior. I was wondering if there is any way of cleaning the headliner without ruining it.

A carpet/upholstery cleaner? Foam so it doesn't run. I've never used it on the headliner, but it's worth a try.

There is some spray stuff in a can that we use.

It's called "Fire", really potent. Spray that removes bad oders, deep bad smells...yeah, stuff like that.

You spray that in the front vents (bottom of the front windshield) and all around the interior of the car...the ceiling, floor, and the trunk) Let the car run with the A/C on full blast for at least 20 minutes.

And you wait till the smell dies down after another 25 minutes.

That should do the trick.

Now all you gotta do it find some spray. :thumbup

something out there called "tuff stuff" smells like citrus, works great, it's a spray on foam :thumbup

go to your local dealer/detail shop and ask what they use or buy a can of spray off them. at the dealership i work at we use this dense foam spray. works great. as for the smell, bmwlot is right spray some stuff in the vents.

Mark - you could also try utilizing some kind of febreeze (ish) thing on the headliner. If it's just a smell issue, that should handle it. If the whole car stinks, put a couple of UNUSED! dryer sheets under the front seats. Kills smells dead. :)

The car doesn't smell at all, it is just the damn yellow tint it has left on my headliner that bugs the shit out of me. I have tried cleaning headliners before on my '84 S-10 (bad comparison but nontheless) and it ended up seperating and falling down. Luckily I used thumb tacks and had a pretty cool design going to hold it up, but I don't want to repeat that on my Bimmer.
