about to buff my whole car
Well i got tired of some oxidation on my hood and roof and rear pillars. my buddy had some meguiars polishing compound lying around from his truck project and wanted to show me what it could do to my paint. we put it on a secton of the rear pillar and the paint shined like new!!
So after about 2 weeks of waiting around and contemplating i went ahead and bought an adjustable speed buffer/sander/polisher. its the real deal and today i bought some meguiars fine cut cleaner (buffing compund) this is rated "5" on their "light to heavy cut chart". then i bought meguiars professional show car glaze (polish) both of these products were recommended by the guy at wesco autobody supply in bellingham. these guys really know there stuff and if you ever need any detailing equip or info this is the place to go at least in WA state. ( not sure if they are located elsewhere in the states) i'm planning on doin the detail tomorrow or this weekend so i'll give a detailed write up on how it goes and the end results will hopefully show for the july 9th pnw drive to leavenworth! i'm planning on using the meguiars tech wax to wax after i polish because my friend has had very good results from it. |
Amazing@!!!
car looks like it has a completely new paint job!! i'm so sold on these products. i used the gold class wax instead of the tech wax and it turned out gorgeous. will post before and after pics as soon as i can take some |
Can't wait to see some pics!

Did you ever get a write up? I have the same products, but I'm not sure the right method of using the buffer.
|
never did a write up. finished it and was very impressed but i think in retrospect i prefer the finish of the job done by hand with a clean cloth towel. The oxidation came off much quicker with the buffer so starting work with it was nice but i would also suggest the final application of the buffing compound and polishing to be done by hand. Hope this helps

Could you post info on the buffer you bought? is it a random orbital?
|
i bought a buffer from sumit racing because i had a certificate there from a friend. It was a vector 7" orbital buffer/sander. i bought some foam pads and washed the car with gold class car shampoo, then i took the fine cut cleaner and buffed the car with the harder foam pad until dry and then moved to the polishing with a softer foam pad and buffed with that. then i waxed the car after i had made sure the polishing compound had been buffed thoroughly. I used the Gold Class wax at the end. hope this helps guys
