I dont know I have seen folks in some 3rd world countries do some pretty scary things... shit like that that we would never dare do...

^only because we can afford to buy the jack stands and equipment to do it correctly....though to be honest... if i were in a place that poor, i'd probolly dig a long ditch deep enough for me to sand in and narrow enough for my car to drive over. Like a mechanic's pit.

yeah true. I am not dissing them, just saying. however, a mechanic's pit along with a nice jack (industrial hydraulic ones) is whats going to be in my garage :D
