Car Audio and Electronics
Sponsored by: SKOB on itunes Discuss sub and speaker setups, GPS navigation, XM radio, and anything else related to car audio and electronics.
I really enjoy music, and having it sound its best is important to me.
Heres my equipment
-Imac(for digital music output)
-Nakamichi Music bank(not sure on power but its 2 channel with CD and some inuts for AUX, Tape etc.) Its old school(15 years), used to have a pre amp hooked up to it, but that crapped out.
-4 Jamo glass Wall Speakers. $700 a pair when we puchased the Nakamichi
-2 Speakers that came with the Nakamichi unit
-2 Bose cube speakers(2 on each cube) + an inline sub
-a 3 way speaker splitter, with one input and 3 outputs to speakers.
so...heres the question
The nakamichi isnt pumping out enough juice for me. Should i get a new reciever(if so what do you recomend[$500+-100]), or just get a new pre amp?(what kind would you recommend?)
If i get a new reciever should i get 7.1 or just multi channel? I do not have "surround speakers" but i have enough to set it up with regular speakers. How much watts per channel?
so whats resonable? As of right now the Nakamichi can only power the bose, the jamos pull to much power from the spliter. I want more umph. I got quality speakers..but i need cleaner and louder. (FYI i still use cds)

you could just get a really really really crazy bangin' pair of head phones.
but a new amp would also work.
already have some.
Bose QC2 ftw.
i think im gonna go with the marantz probably
mackie, ha..ill try that

the mackie would rock (probably annoy your neighbors) 800 watts, adjustable EXTERNAL levels for under $500. I could've recomended Crowns but they run upwards of $3500 - I run 2 Crown 36x12s on my home unit - but then again I also drive it with Midas console
so i came home last night, to a big wrapped box in my room and a card which my dad wrote(that never happens).
card was in hungarian(bilingual ftw) and sid thnx for all the work you put into the business(work with my parents) this is your christmas bonus.
and they got me this
wow...

Too bad you can't set it up for a rotational soundstage so you could change what speakers it comes from depending on where you are.
As a sidenote one of my roommates is an audio guy and is trying to set somthing like that up but hasn't gotten there yet.
well tell him i give a thumbs up for marantz
