so I earned myself a damn speeding ticket yesterday goin 69 in a 45mph zone on a fukin "highway". I have a cobra laser detector but the thing didnt even make a damn sound before a pig biker pulled me over. I was pissed cus i just bought the thing from circuit city for 100 buks like 2 months ago and the little shit didnt even make a beep. it saved me maybe twice and with like 67 false alarms. thing is bullshit im looking for a good laser detector that wont let me down. anyy suggestions for any good devices that u had experoance with?/
Well maybe you shouldnt have been speedin in the first place. Laser/radar detectors only work when the gun is actually bieng used. How they set traps up is so that even if u have a laser/radar detector by the time u know there there or when they gun you its to late. Thats how i was gunned once, it sucks but they know what there doing.
I was gonna buy a radar detector but after i found that out i was decided id save the money for something better. Just remmber, for $100 ur not getting a very good detector. Some of the better ones run like $350-400.

I think Radar detectors are one of those things that you get what you pay for, the higher end units are close to $500. I dont have any experince with these things though. I do know this if you get pulled over with one chances are the cop isn't going to go easy on you and you will probably get the ticket for the full ammount.

That's why you get the kind that you can rip off and hide quickly when you get pulled over.

Ive had Cobra POS's before including other brands, and now I've finally got the Valentine V1 and that thing is awesome.. No false alerts, directional display. That thing is awesome!! The original pricetag is over $400 bucks though, but I looked around on ebay and picked mine up for $240 with a concealed display and a few other extras. It was used only twice. So yeah, look around, and get a laser jammer to accompany any radar detector.

I have the Escort Passport X50 Blue. I'm pleased with it. You just have to remember that all radar detectors cheap or expensive aren't going to tell you exactly where the cops are. I got my ticket with the X50 on, it was too late by the time I hit the breaks. He was using laser. It's almost impossible to get away from laser, instant-on, the X50 can handle....but not laser.
I also learned, that it helps to follow somebody.....not to be hit first by the cop.
My experiences with V1 arn't good. I've driven LOTS of BMWs with V1s in em', and they ALWAYS go off doesn't matter what mode. And one time it was telling me that KA was all over the place but no cops in sight. Right now, I don't think it's worth it for me, to get the V1 dispite all the great things I've heard. Plus, I read their V1 forums on occasion to see what's the latest thing that's wrong with them....and they have a couple bugs to work out.
I've seen several Beltronics models, and I'm impressed....and so are the V1 users (V1 forums)...they really like the STi. I think the Pro RX-65 is pretty good too. But then again, you are spending 300-400 dollars.
I agree with beem, if you really want something better, get a laser/radar jammer. That'll solve the problem.
or just dont speed.. that will solve the problem too.. haha but I shouldn't be the one talking about not speeding.. Its like saying "dont breathe"
haha yeah it is like breathing and drving a BMW just makes it harder NOT to speed LoL but yeah appreciate all the feedback guys im gona check on that jammer/laser detetor!!!

well in NZ radar detectors are legal and statistically speeders with radars drive slower on avg than speeders without - why? coz they false alarm you hit the breaks. LOL
seriously though cops here in NZ endorse the use of radar. the loverly thing is that they cant ban a lazer jammer - theres no grounds for it.
radar jammers are illegal everywhere that i know, because you need a licence to transmit on that radar frequency - the cops get the licence - you dont.
but light? haha whos gonna licence that?
i have a real POS uniden that cost me ef all 3 years ago, ive saved money with it even though it false alarms like a bitch, ive also had tickets with it, admittedly i wasnt paying enough attention to those government revenue collectors at the time...

Your Ride: Nothing .. for now.
I'm very convinced the smarter investment over a laser detector/jammer is a turbo. You're gonna get gunned either way. With a turbo they have to catch you to do anything about it.
