Some of my gear is here

Well, just to give you guys a small taste of what's going in the next car

Here are my amps. They are made by an Italian company called Audison, it's a company that's owned by Elettromedia (you might know them from the high end Hertz speaker company. But anywho... I bought two of there VRX amps, (there second to best line of amps).

I bought a VRX 1.5 (sub amp) and a 2.4 (2 channel speaker amp). And a few accessories for them here are the pics....

Here's the sub amp

And the specs on it

Speaker amp (I still have it sealed in the box)

And it's specs

Now keep in mind though, the specs on these amps are real, meaning I'll actually have them running that much power to the speakers/subs in the car

The modules...

(From left to right) Subsonic Filter (due to the ported box I'll have) - Bass knob - Bass Equalizer

Four End trims/caps
these allow for a seamless install where you won't see any wires. They also give me the chance to slap some fans on the amps to keep them cool

A center trim

Just in case I decide to put the amps side by side

....

Two Pairs of fans

These fans are pretty cool. They consist of two fan groups to put into a terminal and a module to put inside the amplifier. When the amplifier is Turned on, the module drives the fan at their maximum speed for some moments, in order to check their functionally; then, fans start to turn of at very low speed until their intervention gets necessary. When the amplifier internal temperature increases, the module gradually increases the fans speed; when it gets to ~75 degree C. fans reach 90% of their max speed. Beyond this temperature threshold, amplifier goes on safe mode fans reach their highest speed, until amplifier's internal temp. gets lower than 42degree C. I was kind of impressed by how fancy the fans were (which explained the fancy price tag on them too )

And last but not least, the sub...

Focal 33KX 13" of yellow power

I know the specs say max 800... but humm... yeah, we've seen them handle 4000 with ease

But yeah, all this stuff was fun to look into and order, can't wait to get it all here and then into a car. But, just to give you and idea on all this.... MSRP on ALL that stuff is $5992.87

Now the speakers is where it gets fun and un-usual.

In order to get a nice number out of it, I need to have it run a 2 Ohm load. Most component sets only run on one X-over, meaning just a 4 ohm load. Well, I'v been thinking hard on what to get and I've been in contact with the guys down at Focal (more or so Chad - my installer/friend - and am gonna design my own 3 way set.....

The idea was based on this set of speakers (MSRP ~$1700)...

The Tweeter will be mounted in my A-pillars or dash,
The 4" mid-bass will go where the factory tweeter goes
The 6.5" Woofer will go where the factory 5.25" goes (with some modification)

Well, what we're going to do is use a complete 4" inch component set as a mid-bass driver and tweeter then use a separate 6.5" woofer. Therefore using two X-overs and getting that 2 ohm load.

Here are the details

I'll be getting 2 complete kits of these (Mid-bass drivers, tweeters, and X-overs - then the second set will be deck powered in the back for rear fill)

The Woofer will come from this set (no worries I can oder specific parts only, not going to pay the $950 for the all set.

And use the X-Over for the woofer from this set (I know the two woofers look as if they are the same, but they aren't)

Once it's all done, it will sound freaking amazing, we did the same exact thing in a Dodge Rumble Bee (JUST OFF DECK POWER) and I mean, I was amazed by how clear the system was

Am also going to pick up a set of these 5.25" and just hang on to them for possible future usage.

Needless to say am very excited about the custom speaker set

I'll give more details on the cables and power and various stuff later on.... pretty much when I know what am getting

Man, that is a hell of a setup. Nice choice of components, specially the Audison Amps.

How much did the amps set you back 'cause I know in Italy where my wife is from, they have a Audison Authorized dealer and I had a stroke when i saw the prices on the amps alone (1 Euro = $1.32) around the 1500 euro range.

Good Luck.
