help with current Alpine cd player - United Bimmer Community

I bought a '96 328is two months ago and there is a problem with the aftermarket Alpine cd player. When the radio is playing all the speakers play but when a cd is playing, only the speakers on the passenger side play. I messed with the settings on the Apline unit and the Fader is set to zero and the Balance is set to zero. I first thought that maybe the wiring might be screwed up but to me it dont make sense. It dont make sense to me becasue when the radio plays, u get music from all the speakers. When you switch to cd, only the right side plays. I have time this week so i am going to pull out the radio and see how everything is hooked up. I just would like some suggestions as to what to look for or if anyone had a problem similar to this with any of their cars. Also, I think the owner before had a amp installed because there is a piece of 4 gauge wire in the trunk. I dont know if he installed the amp himself and screwed up something on the headunit. Everyone's input would be appreciated on this topic because i think this problem might take me a while to figure out. If i cannot fix the problem i guess i will get a new cd player and hopefully that will solve the problem.

OK, few questions....

What type of Alpine CD player is it..

IE: CDA9856 CDE9846.... (model number)

Secondly, is there a changer in the trunk?

Are the speakers factory or aftermarket?

And just so we are on the same page...

FM works fine you get music from all speakers... But CD you only have music from right side speakers?

FM works fine and i get music from all speakers, that is correct.
With CD playing i get music from right side speakers, that is correct too.
The speakers are factory, at least the rear's i know for a fact are. They are marked Nokia on them. The speakers in the door's and kick panel's i assume are factory.
The model # is cda-7894.
And lastly, there is no cd changer in the trunk or anywhere in the car.
