Open it up. Sniff everything inside, look for brown or burned circuits. You could get lucky and find a blown fuse inside. It's either clipping or there's a short somewhere. You're not overdriving it, right??

ok, let me ask some simple questions

What kind of fuse is powering it up from the power cable? Is it the oval glass kind?

yeah, those fuses aren't the best.. Sometime what happends is that the way those fuse are made, if they get hot, the welding that olds them together kind of melts and drifts to the bottom of the fuse, so they might not look broken, but they are no good... try changing the fuse...

or better yet go get a circuit breaker that works with your amperage application. that way if your mom or friend take your car out, all you have to do is push a button and the connection is broken.

...thats a good idea spieluhr.
So i tried the new fuse, the amp would blink on and off. I tried connecting it directly(i know, horrible idea, but i was desperate at the time) and still the amp just blipped on and then off. I tried using different cable, still nothing. I going to go to the shop where we had it originally installed in the other car. They can check to see if its blown or what the hell is wrong with it.

If its broken, well then ill buy a new one and have it professionally installed.

Numark, just a thought for the hell of it- you never mentioned anything about the ground cable . . have you inspected it? Made sure you still have a solid ground connection?

oh its not that. I figured that way i can have someone else clean up my work. Right now i had the amp glued down with silicone on the carpet, the wires werent hidden very well and the crossovers arent attached to my trunk very well. Maybe if i took it somewhere they could make that look...well nicer.

Dudesky as for the Ground, I grounded it to the battery.

hm. so i havent gone anywhere yet. But i did try somethign else today.

The remote wire i was using was wired to the old OEM amp. This remote wire was wired to the fuse box. So i just rewiered another blue wire going from teh blue slot in the back of the radio to the amp. I hooked up the ground, power and the remote.
Nothing. Now the headunit wont even turn on.
THink im going to get this fixed once and for all today.

dont even think anyone will read this. If u do...well then ull know i fucked up.
So the amp was fixed, it was just a problem with the ground connection on the amp. Some solder fixed that. Works great.
well in the process i shorted out my head unit. I was an idiot and put an un insulated wire in the remote wire hole...and bam. smoke. so..i find out that the radio still works but no cdplayer. So ima buy a new head unit tomarow.
I also tried to resolder the fried part of the board, as an experiment. Didnt work.
oh well.

Hey bro, you didn't fuck up - it's a learning experience. Alot of us learn better by "doing" - not just "book smarts". (if I get out your way on a gig - I'll teach you soldering -like a mad dog! My guys are always fixing amps, cable connections & mixing consoles.) I'll have you working on this gem
