ok.. does my car have a Factory amp? can i dissconnect the speakers in the back and hook up my sub to it? because they are blown anyway.. also the forum looks really nice, i come from dtm power.
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.
Well, to clarify in detail, yes you can do that, but your stock amp will last about 10sec
It's hard to determine what you'll need to do to get the 12" in, we'll need more info on the setup specifics. Rooz works in a car audio shop, and can give you some expert help.

You need an amp that runs whatever the woofer can handle at whatever the resistance of the voice coils of the sub are. so if your sub runs 200w RMS(continuouspower) @ 4 ohms resistance, then you need an amp that runs as close to 200wRMS at 4ohms. It's ok to be a little under or a little over. the general rule is that the power the amp puts out should be in the top 1/3 of the subs handling capacity. Info on your specific sub could probably be found on crutchfeild or any other car electronics site.
Keep in mind things arent this simple when using more than one speaker.
