Did you have an aftermarket head unit before?

If not you'll need a wiring harness and the antena plug in

honestly, you'r better off getting the $50 ones, they are by far way more supperior to mine...

So you'll need a wiring harness and the antena plug in. Since you are going from stock head unit to an aftermarket one.

And if I were you, I'd go ahead and upgrade from the factory amp.

I am personally upgrading mine to a JL 350/4 in about 3 weeks.

but if you get the wiring harness all you'll basicly do is plug it in the factory harness and then just match the colors on the wires from the head unit to the wires from the wiring harness.

Any subs in this system?

No, you can use the factory harnesses, you just have to splice into them at the stock amp's location. But this is really only useful in the case of the front speakers, since getting wires through the front doors is a bitch.

If your current stock system is the standard Nokia 10 speaker setup, let me know which wires you need to identify on the stock harnesses. I have the same year 325i, and I went through all this crap earlier this year

Your stock amp is located inside the driver's side rear fender. What you need really depends on what you have. We could use more details and background in order to help. Like HU / amp / speaker specs, etc.

Rooz (and others), jump in anytime here . . . got a feeling this thread's gonna be a long but good one I think this could be a good candidate for Harry's idea about extrapolating a DIY on car audio, especially since folks always ask how to convert the rears to 6x9's . . B3M2W5i, if you have a camera, might be cool to document the whole process?
