mix and match

what do you guys think of having different brands in your car for instance lets say alpine hu, infinity front components, kenwood rears, kicker sub and RF amps. THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE ok. and do you think i should hook up my whole system and then see if i still want subs or what?

Nothing wrong with that, in fact I prefer to mix it up. I don't care what anybody else says, no manufacturer out there makes the best of everything.

On the subs, if you're not sure, just prewire the car for them anyway. That means turn on lead and RCA's from the HU to the trunk. Less work later on. Don't sweat power & ground, your battery is in the trunk anyway.

If you have a ski bag hole, open it up. If not go with higher amplifier power to compensate.

Wow, that's like asking what beer someone drinks . . it's totally a personal preference thing. On HU's, I've owned all the following brands at one time or another, and here's my take on them:

Alpine was too tinny for me.
Aiwa has too much midrange.
Pioneer, Sony & JVC are not bad and fairly well balanced for the price.
Clarion and Denon are much better, but a little more expensive.
My all time hands down favorite was Nakamichi. I don't think anything compares to it.

I got a clarion headunit and like it a lot. It goes good with the dash since it is black.
