Removing fader in e30
Does anyone know how to remove the fader that was an option? I've got an 84 318i, I've seen the wiring diagram for it in the sticky, but how would I go about wiring it out or simply removing it without killing my stereo?

It's easy but...
1. You have to figure out what cables (+ & -)go to what speakers and...
2. Are you using the factory radio?
Reason I am asking is because the factory radio has 1 (2+ & 2-)set of wires to run 2 speakers. If you run all 4 speakers then you run into the risk of pushing a lower Ohm load to the speakers (2 ohms instead of 4) and can also damage the factory radio after prolonged use because the radio was not meant to operate at that load. Check well before you do.

I'm not using the factory radio..You mean the fader knob more or less cuts the power to each set of speakers in half? If that's the case, looks like I've got more to do on my next stereo install

when i got my new sound system they disconnected the fader knob because you control the fader through the head unit. I was thinking about removing the knob and putting in a button that opens my garage door in its place. Lol or maybe i could put a turbo button that makes the car like a rocket or a button that makes me fly over traffic or something. no but really i wonder if i could put a garage door button in there...
