i'd recommend any alpine cd+mp3 unit cause they are all really nice sounding. if you wanted to go a little cheaper i'd stick with sony cause they make some quality stuff too. look into blaupunkt as well. they are the company that designs most german car stero systems from the factory. like a german Bose kinda...
I just put a sony in my E30, The guy who had it before me put an alpine cassete stereo in it with some JBL speakers, the Sony sounds good, the cassete deck wasnt powering the speakers i had, but this one sounds more than good.
