You can tap a bolt straight down on the floor under the amp or hook it up to where the back seat hook loops are. The shorter the wire, the less chance you have of getting distortion noise from any source. Alot of friends of miine that were installers always kept reminding me that.

worry about rust

another question i have: does it matter that the new tweeters will be secured to the plastic trim in the old mesh/grill frame and floating a little as opposed to bolted to the door as previously. i have made a hole in the mesh and sat them in there as otherwise it would mean tapping new holes for them

questions to add...

where is it best to split or splice into the remote wire to send a signal to both amps? ... just want to check

any recommendations for replacement rear speakers that will just go straight in 5.25 inches (13cm)?

rear speakers wire colours which are positive and negative?:
left rear - yellow and brown
right rear - blue and brown

Thanks!!

Not at all. It's even better like that so you feel the whole effect of the tweeter/midwoofer instead of having them separated.

If i remember well you have component sets that are 2 way. 2 Way are midwoofer/midrange and a tweeter. Also there are 2 way speakers where the tweeter and mid are both together as 1 unit. I prefer separates. You can leave them up front because most of yoru sound is going to be generated up front and your rear speakers work more or less like rear fill/surround.

I would recommend Infinity, that os what I have in my car for the front and have them for over 6 years now without them failing. Alpine and Boston Acoustics do great speakers too.

For the remote on, If you don't have a aftermarket radio, splice from a power line that comes on when you turn the key to accessory. That way you can run your stereo when your car isn't runnung

Brown is ground on both. Good luck.

shortened the ground and as suggested bolted (to the floor directly underneath). used an existing hole and sanded around it front and back. noise still there although a bit less evident. will try insulating the holes through which the amp is bolted to the car .. i thought i could use insulating tape through and around the holes and then put the bolts back in.

have bought a second pair of 6.5 inch Morels and tweeters for the rear. where's the best place to mount tweeters at the back, pillars perhaps (higher up than the mids)? definitely behind the rear seats? or less intrusively , lower down? or perhaps not at all?
