so this thread isnt about car stereo..but stereo for room/studio..what ever.
I want to start doing dj gigs. very serious about it this time. I need some bumpin speakers obviously...so I need recommendations for portable, powerfull, clear sounding amps and speakers. I want stadium style(not sure what you would call teh connection), not component or regular speaker wire. I want the speakers with the big ass plug. lol
So..recommendations? Im looking on craigslist..but i need to get some names to look for something good.

Gah, don't get Yamaha. They tend to overrate their power handling specs, and their bass output is usually less than adequate. In my days, you couldn't go wrong with Cerwin Vega or JBL. On amps, the gold standard is Crown; everyone uses them because they're reliable. QSC and Mackie are good, too. Depending on how serious you wanna get, you might consider getting a crossover (or a mixer that has a built-in x-over), and separate subs (aka bass bins) and satellites (aka full range speakers), each driven by separate amps.
The 'big ass plugs' you're referring to are either 1/4 phono or XLR.
