Heh . .

^^^As it sits temporarily right now in my trunk. For those who've never seen one, it's a DICE iPod integration kit from europeanautosource.com. This particular one has HD radio included. Hooks up to your amp in lieu of the CD changer, and allows iPod control from the factory radio or steering controls. It's also supposed to display text onto your radio, but I haven't seen it yet, don't know what's up w/ dat. Haven't hooked up the HD radio antenna yet, and I haven't decided where it will live permanently either. So far I'm not as impressed with it as I thought I'd be, but the sound quality is pretty good . . we'll see how this turns out soon . . .

Finally got the scrolling text to work; I have to say this thing is not the most intuitive device. They had forgotten to include the user's manual for the iPod integration, so I've been trying to figure it all out. So far I see you can only access your playlists and albums through the radio and steering controls, and then you can go backward and forward through the songs within them. But you can also use the iPod itself to go through whatever you want on the fly; it's not locked by the DICE unit. At $279 (for BMWs with DSP sound), it's a bit pricey for what it does, but I wanted integration to the fullest possible with the factory radio, and I wanted HD radio, so there wasn't much of a choice for me

DICE makes some pretty rock solid pieces they spend a LOT of time in R&D. Back when I was at Tweeter, I had talked to a few of the Engineers and Techs and they def helped out when we were in a bad spot

Got it fully installed now, and the HD radio part works great. As I mentioned before, the interface is not the most intuitive. But if it was made better, I bet this thing would cost way higher than what I paid. You gotta take the good with the bad, but at least it works reliably. I do have to say that EAS' customer service is very good; answered my emails withing a few hours
