LED question.
Didn't know where to put it since we don't have a Electronics section yet...
How long would it take for 4 normal (no superbright shit) LEDs to draw out a car battery beyond the starting point ?
Thanks

Cameron and I were messing my car one evening and we had interior lights on for about 3 hours and that killed the battery. I'm guessing the power consumption would be similar.
Btw, whatcha think about making the car audio section also include electronics? Or do you think there should be a seperate forum?

it all depends on how old the battery is and how good it is at holding the charge your alternator (Which might not be good either) gave to it... some batteries will die in 10 min if you have the radio on without the car on.. (my old battery haha) mine i left my dome light on over night and my car still cranked haha (then again i got a hella expensive battery haha

Well, I think Audio and Electronics can be merged...at least for now.

Ha, yes. My angel eyes dim when the car's not running.
But on that topic, anyone know how long it would take a normal battery to die if you leave the angel eyes on with the car off? 4 leds (two per tube) of 12v each (i think).

Well, Harry that is why I am asking... I wanna hook 'em up independently and be able to leave them on all the time... not worried about them burning out (since LEDs have a life expectancy of like 10000 hours)...just the battery factor.

LED's usually only consume 20 milliamps or so. What type of AE's do you have? Thinking about doing it to the X.

my battery drained when i left my hella AE on at work for ~3 hrs before they were shut off, but i had been draining the battery all day installing an amp while running interior lights, etc. (it was too cold out to do it on the driveway!)

when I had my mustang I had a few blue led's on the inside it takaes a few hours to kill the batteries, I know that it lasts at least 2 hours...., but I think LED's would kill batterie less than regular lights

LEDs use way less power than regular lights. They are never really on, they flash so fast they only look that way

I guess I'll just hook 4 LEDs up to a 1.5V battery and see how long it takes to kill that...

LEDs consume very little power. and by very little i mean extremely little amounts that you shouldn't even worry.
What is the application you are using them in?

LEDs will last on a car battery FOREVER. lol. I can run them for quite a while on just a capacitor. Several days on 2 AA batteries...
On a car battery, I wouldn't worry about leaving them on for a night or two unless you had AEs with 10000000000 LEDs, even then it might be ok for ONE night.
