OBC (On Board Computer) Question

I don't know if this has been asked. I've gone thru the FAQ's etc and didn't see one

I have an 89 325i that has a time and date unit. Is it possible to replace it with the OBC from an 87 325is? Is the wiring and connections already in place or is this a re-wire job?
Thanks Denny

...1987 and 1991 are the same I believe.

All that changes is the "coding plug" in the back of the apparatus. Wiring is the same.

If you order one from Bavarian let's say, you specify the model and and year of your car and ask that they include the little display light bar and the coding plug (they take these out if you don't ask for them).

It should cost between $65 and $80 complete delivered to your door.

Pretty good for a part that sells for about $1000 (yes that's right...$1000!!!) at the dealer and sells as a refurbished part for $200 from Programa.
