Navigation systems
I have been trying to do my research on this but it would be nice if someone can tell me if I'm looking at this correctly. Problem : My navigation unit in the trunk has gone bad. I had it swapped out with another unit from another car and everything started to work correctly. So... I have a 2000 740 i sport and based on what I have read, I seem to have an MK2 unit. This would be the unit with the sqware edges on the bezel. It looks like I can upgrade to an MK3 unit the one with the rounded edges on the bezel and it will work with the 4:3 screen on the dash. Then later down the road I should be able to upgrade the unit on the dash with the bigger screen. This is how I see things and I think I'm correct but it would be nice if someone can validate my thinking. I also understand that if I upgrade to the MK3 unit, then I get faster results from the naivigation system. The lag time drops. There also seems to be a split screen feature I will get but I'm not sure if that is part of the MK3 or if that is something with the wide screen console in the dash.
Thanks
David.

Am not sure exactly what versions of factory nav's we use, but at this point, I'd say go talk to a tech at your local dealership

Yes. I have a 944 turbo S. The real one 1988. Burgendy interior. They only made 375 of them. Unfortunatly, I blew the engine two times in two years. <:-( Too much boost.

aww, that sucks...
I was thinking about buying a 928 S4 at one point but I couldn't afford the maintenance...
but I like the 924 and the facelifted 928...
actually I like Porsche as much as BMW...
