ipod + fm transmitter+stock radio...why crappy sound
i bought a fm transmitter to play the ipod on the 88 E30 car's stock radio (premium), i picked a frequency on the radio and transmitter, although i can hear the music there is this swooshing noise on the background very irritating.
can anyone give input as to why, is my radio obsolete, does my antenna have to be raised as well. do i have to try certain frequencies. or last option being to replace the stock unit. thanks |
i always found that the amp caused a lot of sound problems with my e30's. i always take them out and find much better sound.

yep
or (like I did) try to find a head unit which kinda fits the style... I had a Blaupunkt non MP3 CD unit (perfect match, I think it was from a Mercedes) and when it broke I bought my Kenwood MP3 radio quite good |
i agree with both those denyo and dudesky. if you cant replace the headunit, get a cassette adapter.

thanks for the input everybody, I am taking this piece of crap back first thing today after work, I will give a try to the tape adopter and if that doesn't work or give good sound I will replace the head unit.
i want to get rid off my old cassettes laying all over the car floor:cheers2 |
headunit! headunit! headunit!
alpine makes some nice ones that have built in ipod support. mine is one of them, but i dont have an ipod. . . |
Update:
I returned that fm transmitter crap and picked up a cassette adopter, way much better, will do till i get my alpine unit. never been an ipod fan, but when u get it for free there is no way in hell i am complaining:tup |

in all reality though, if you have a cd changer (guessing you you dont which renders this post completely useless) then you can use a cd changer converter. something similar to this: http://indashpc.org/new/aux_adapters/car2aux-bmw.html |
^^^ im pretty sure the E30 never came with a cd changer! :)
maybe a tape changer tho . . . ;) |

indeed, talk about a newbie:throwrock i wonder when the first car cd deck was launched, i mean as a standard unit in a car. little off topic :drink3 |
Hi mate, I had the same issues with my iTrip, so just binned it. Picked up a new Pioneer head unit with included cable for little cash.
I got the DEHP6900i model, but you can get the DEHP4900i for even less and with matching amber illumination. hope that helps. |
yup, watch that the head unit matches the car!
no chrome head-unit w/ blue led in an e 30, PLEEEEASE! ^^ |
