Angry ipod + fm transmitter+stock radio...why crappy sound

i bought a fm transmitter to play the ipod on the 88 E30 car's stock radio (premium), i picked a frequency on the radio and transmitter, although i can hear the music there is this swooshing noise on the background very irritating.

can anyone give input as to why, is my radio obsolete, does my antenna have to be raised as well.

do i have to try certain frequencies.

or last option being to replace the stock unit.

thanks

i always found that the amp caused a lot of sound problems with my e30's. i always take them out and find much better sound.

There's your problem. FM transmitters suck. You're better off with a cassette adapter.

yep
or (like I did) try to find a head unit which kinda fits the style...
I had a Blaupunkt non MP3 CD unit (perfect match, I think it was from a Mercedes) and when it broke I bought my Kenwood MP3 radio
quite good

i agree with both those denyo and dudesky. if you cant replace the headunit, get a cassette adapter.

:O i am in shock!

in all reality though, if you have a cd changer (guessing you you dont which renders this post completely useless) then you can use a cd changer converter. something similar to this:

Hi mate, I had the same issues with my iTrip, so just binned it. Picked up a new Pioneer head unit with included cable for little cash.

I got the DEHP6900i model, but you can get the DEHP4900i for even less and with matching amber illumination.

hope that helps.
