Problem with 2005 X3 Instrument Panel

Hello everyone!

I have a 2005 X3.

I'm having a problem with the instrument panel. My X3 has automatic lights, so I never touch the lights switch.

Recently, sometimes, when I turn off the X3 I notice that the instrument panel lights are still on (all other indicators are off).

To turn the panel off I have to insert the key again, move the key at least one position and get the key out again. Or, use the lights switch, turn the lights on and then off.

Has anyone else seen this?

(BTW, I took it to the dealer and they want to fix it by replacing the light switch, which does not make sense)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, since you have a 2005 X3, you are stilll under the 4 year 50,000 mile factory warranty.

I suggest you let them do whatever they say needs to be replaced under warranty so that that problem is solved.

Let me remind you things under warranty are free. So that means you don't have to pay for whatever they fix to your car just as long as it doesn't pertain to your tires.

Never heard of this problem, but I'm sure your dealership knows what they are talking about when replacing that light switch, it may have caused a short or blown a fuse.

Sooo yeah, have the dealer replace it at no cost to you.

Have a nice day. :)
