got one question about the light behind the head light knob? Does it use the same light bulb that you used, or do you have to replace the whole little cluster.
What exactly is the "head light knob"? If it's the headlight selector thing (Off/Parking/Driving), I believe there is a bulb in that part. Just unscrew the screw located underneath the knob and pull the part out. There should be a bulb in there. I've never had to take that part out, but that would be consistent with how the rest of the car is made.
Danny, the first one wasn't directed to you. Sorry for the confusion.

I placed an arrow where the bulb is supposed to be. Apparently the author is also missing it, or maybe he pulled it out as he took the thing apart. But the bulb goes head first into that hole, and there's a 2 wire harness connected to it.

as for me, the odo light (lcd i think)does work but no other cluster lights work. also I have found as well that the headlight selector is not lighting. The comp and heater controls work fine though.

yup sure did, It adjusts th heater,Comp, but not the cluster. I pulled the cluster tonight. all 3 of the bulbs filliments ard burned up. I will pick some in the morning and see if that corrects the prob, then i will move on to the light selector swich bulb.. thanks for the hel pso far. This site and its members are great!!
And Mitch, I have no idea how to fix it. It seems very strange that only the odometer lights would work. The dimmer thing that Daniel brought up would make sense, but I don't think you would overlook that. I guess you could change the bulbs just to see but I have a hunch that it won't work. Let us know what happens.

You're welcome Mitch.
A reset for most lights in the cluster (I don't know if this works for the SRS light) is to disconnect the battery for five minutes (make sure you have your radio code) and reconnect and restart the car. That worked for my mom's E39 when we replaced the brake pads and the light would not go off. Let me know, I'm kind of curious.

Service Indicator Light Bulbs???
Hi There,
I just have a question; does the Service indicator lights are always lit up & tells you how many green left? In my car the lights are always off and when I start the car it doesn't lit up at all. I have to look very closely to the dash to see how many green left. Is there a bulb that I can reply? It's a 1994 318i sedan. Thanks much.
