DIY Emblem/Roundel Removal

I know that there was another thread on this (See here), but this one has Pics

The Before picture. If I had a better camera, you would see all the cracks in the enamal finish of the Roundel:

You can go to the dealer, and I really haven't checked on the cost of that, but, personally, I went to BAVARIAN autosport where the Roundel itself cost me $12.95 and the grommlets I had to search for on that site, they were $1.90 for a pair. I ordered them Monday night, got them Thursday afternoon. Damn quick shipping.

1. First, I jimmied an old calling card in.
2. Then I squeezed another one on top.
3. In between the two, I inserted a thin flat head screw driver gently prying by the two pins, leaving at least the bottom card in (to protect surface):

It was actuall quite easy to insert, however, DO NOT rotate around the outter edge as you will, as I did, scratch the paint from the particulate crap that's under the emblem.

4. Once the gap is large enough:

...you can pull it off.

Walla!

Now, onto the installation of the new Roundel.
Needle nose pliers seem to be the only logical device needed for this following step. I beileve they were used in the other write up as well.

5. Remove the old grommlets that , by now, are old and hardened:

6. Clean up the area (I used my All-In-One Klasse polish) and insert the new grommlets:

7. Put in the new Roundel, just push it on. Isn't it a thing of beauty?:

I know its really simple, but still, this could help someone out and it's alot easier than ripping out the tacks from the hood padding risking the damage that can occure there.

Time: Took 6 minutes, taking my time and taking these pictures (as seen on the photos).

Goodluck, not that you'll need it, and just watch out for the paint.

I tried one, but the screw driver kept slipping. I was afraid I would really scratch the paint. So I used two to hold the driver in place plus start the wedging process.

or do it from the other side of the hood...
i did it that way, but one of the fasteners broke while still in the hole... then i figured out that you can just remove part of the foam from the other side of the hood, then push it out.

Yes, it is. If you follow the other route, mentioned by brien4787, you'll have to take off the linning on the interior which can become a hassel. The downside to doing it like this DIY is that there is a chance that you could scratch the paint if your not careful.
