Thumbs down DO NOT buy the BMW Convertible Alarm!

I just had the BMW alarm kit (Part #65 73 0 391 495) for the 330 CiC activated. While the install is very easy, the motion sensors are almost worthless! The only motions they sense is large motions that is very close to the sensor. You can remove items from the seat and door area without activate the alarm.

Furthermore your dealer may not help you if you have problems with the system without charging an arm and leg!

Most convertabile alarms are like that. The dont tend to go off unless someone is leaning against the door or hits something inside the car. Its easy to steal anything inside an open topped convertable, not just from BMW's. So its better if u leave the car unnatended dont leave anything valuable in site, lock em in the glove box or better yet leave the top up. It may be more work but its better than having someone steal your $300 iPod.

Converts are tough to find a good motion/radar sensing unit for. And no one who makes it will gaurantee it won't be a pain. BMW Security Systems.com sells all kinds of add on sensors but in underlined print says - NOT REC. for CONVERTS. The motion sensors in a convert have no real upper perimeter zones, so if set real sensitive and bug that flys into or over will set it off.

Because if a dragonfly flies over your car, it'll set it off.

..yea my friend got a proximity sensor on his tiburon. He lives next door and the night he got it the alarm went off every 5 minutes because the sensor was the sensitive. ALthough he got remote start which was cool.

But proximity sensors are shitty IMO...unless someoen knows how to adjust it just right they get annoying.

Well if i ever buy a IC then ill keep that in mind.

Same with enginebay and trunk.

And yes same problem with those dragonfly's too.
