That's what I found Take apart the whole thing to drain it? All day long! Idea: take a pump spray bottle and remove the pump spray handle and tube. Use that to pump out the water, then put paper in to soak up the rest. *snap*
...i like the fish idea.
how did it take u all day long? E30 tail lights are held in there by like 10 bolts..just get a 8-10mm wrench and go at it?

I just discovered i had the same problem. so i took the tail light that had water in it and drilled a 1/8 dia. hole in the bottom of the tail light assembly. the water will now run out to the bottom of the tail lamp and run right off the bumper. and then for good measure i did the other side as well.
i also had a wasp in one of my tail lights.
